One photo of the child alone, with nobody else in the frame, the face clearly visible and in focus, taken in good light so features and colours come through. You can upload a different photo and generate the cover again before you pay.

The illustrations are built from the photo you upload and follow your child's features, hair and eye colour — in an illustrated storybook style. It is a drawing, not a photograph, so expect a recognisable likeness rather than a portrait.

Yes, and that is the point. Tell us what they love — dinosaurs, space, the sea, football — and the world of the story is built out of it, not just decorated with it. You can also start from one of our templates instead.

The stories are written for children roughly 2 to 8, and the language is pitched at the age you give us — a three-year-old's book and an eight-year-old's book are not written the same way. The alphabet book is for ages 3 to 6, the years a child is learning letters.

Not yet. Each book is built around one main character, which is what lets the story and the illustrations be tailored that closely. Siblings each get their own book.

Either a high-quality digital PDF, or a printed book: 28 pages, 21×21 cm square (8.3×8.3 in), with 12 full illustrations. You choose softcover or hardcover at checkout — the hardcover is printed on heavier 200 gsm paper against 150 gsm, and both have a matte cover.

English, Spanish or French. You choose when you start, and the whole book — story, page text and the printed copy — is written in that language.

A second kind of book: every letter of the alphabet in the language you choose — 26 in English, 27 in Spanish, 26 in French — one word and one scene for each, with your child in the illustrations. The scenes follow what they like, so a child who loves the sea meets the alphabet at the sea. It comes as a PDF or printed, same square format as the story book.
